Sunday Thought: “Aaahhh!! I’m begging you please hire me! I just emailed my client because burnout and self-respect are real sooo good luck to me!”
If y’all want to know more context, I have a post that started with “How do you handle unnecessary edits from a client?” It’s not as detailed as it should have been but yeah, Today may be a Sunday and Sundays may be rest days but not on my side of the planet.
Still, happy Sunday, y’all!! 🌻

Hi @Alex Neiman Do you only need someone to rebuild the website or someone who will also produce content regularly for the website’s blog?

How do you handle unnecessary edits from a client?
Writer friends, I love the business this client is in. We cover anything and everything about ADHD and this is something I am truly passionate about.
But that love and passion is now fading away because the edits from this client (he's the marketing director, not the editor, but he's the one working on the edits with me. Why? I don't know.) are very unreasonable and frankly, unnecessary.
I know edits. I'm not perfect so some things may slip. My editor may have better ways of framing an idea than the sentence I wrote. There's a tone and writing style to keep in mind. I get all these.
But the edits for this client:
They're second-guessing lots of my sentences, as if there's no hyperlink where I got the information from.
They're questioning the way I write, like I have to justify why this sentence or this word should be used or written this way.
They're asking questions like, "is this a thing" so now I have to go back to my sources and send them the links to those. Sometimes, I have to explain in-depth how it's a thing.
Like I said, I get edits. I've dealt with tough editors and I learned from them. This time, however, I am not learning anything. I'm just spending more time when editing because I have to justify every sentence like he doen't trust that I did my due diligence of researching and fact-checking, especially that this is a medical niche.
Question: What should I do?
Because right now, I can't afford to lose this client. Unless I get a $1,000 new client. Help! tysm

Hey Ariana, what aspect of marketing in particular?
#general-chat - April 25, 2025 at 04:38 AM
Is everyone really rejecting cold emails nowadays?
A little storytime + a question
When I started taking this business seriously during the pandemic, I cold emailed like my life depended on it. (Well, my bills sure did lol) I came from a journalism background and before that, content mills (I know...) and have zero experience working with brands.
BUT, I guess my vulnerability and creativity worked because brands welcomed me. My cold emails basically said, "I'm a journalist and have reported for XYZ and I've never worked with brands before but I have THIS bright idea I think your audience would appreciate." And it worked.
I ended up writing for Urth, Zapier, Toggl, Teachable, Shutterstock, FM .co, and more. Unlike most writers who focus on SEO, I focused on storytelling.
Everything was fine. Until these past few months...
A lot of writers especially on LinkedIn started sharing their experiences of how cold emailing doesn't work as well as it used to anymore. I thought it was just me. That I was sounding too sales-y, that my emails felt forced, etc. Turns out, it's not just me.
So the question (and I'm really keen to read your answers) is cold emailing dead? How do y'all find clients these days? How do you continue building that pipeline?
#general-chat - April 18, 2025 at 02:50 PM
Maybe this is why I'm not making any internet friends...
Few weeks ago, I posted on a couple of Slack groups about how they use the platform. Because it overwhelms me.
And instead of interacting, I simply liked your responses, jot down the helpful tips, and went on with my quiet little life in my quiet little bubble. 😅
I promise I appreciate all of you. Sorry for not responding. I just love pen and paper more than keyboard and screen lol
#general-chat - March 30, 2025 at 11:43 AM
This may sound like a ridiculous question but, how do y’all use Slack?
I mean, do you use it on your phone? Exclusively on laptop? Do you set a specific time during your work hours to log in here and be present in various channels? I asm mainly because social media and networking and all that is so overwhelming for me (I don’t even have Facebook now lol) and I’d really like to invest more time and energy into building my brand. So I’m wondering how I can better put myself out there and just connect with people. Thanks!!

Hi folks! Not sure if this is the right channel but I’m looking for expert sources… For an article (or two) I’m looking for a clinical expert who can talk about brain fog, ADHD, and neurodiversity for a quick email interview.
Maybe a psychologist or psychiatrist.
My inbox here is open, but you can also email me at
Thanks so much!

Thanks Raul! I recently started doing this, simply mentioning that I run a small agency, and it definitely feels less scary haha
#general-chat - January 14, 2025 at 10:25 AM
Thank you! @Raúl Galera With the cold email, how does your wife introduce herself? A freelance web designer or an agency founder/owner? I think this is one of the trickiest thing for me. I’m used to saying, “Hi I’m Tammy, a freelance journalist and creative content writer” but now with the small agency I’m running, I feel like I want people to know they will be working with an agency and not just me as a solo person. I hope I’m making sense… 😅
#general-chat - January 11, 2025 at 02:00 PM
Hi folks! I was wondering, aside from referrals and word of mouth, how else can content agencies find and clients? When I was a solo freelancer, most of my clients are from cold emailing.
Do content agencies also cold email? If so, how do you format that email? Do you share right off the bat that you’re an agency? Thanks so much!
#general-chat - January 06, 2025 at 04:23 PM
Hi folks!!
I know a lot of you are sending those “circling back” emails… I, on the other hand, am making an “I have space for two more clients” post.
While I still produce for Shutterstock and a few more clients, my content agency, Moss, is open to two more full-time clients.
We produce narrative-driven content, mostly blog posts, for large enterprises. We also support SMEs and brands that are still in the early stages of building their blogs, collaborating with in-house teams, or independently working on content strategy, SEO, and more.
If you want to use AI, we’re not the agency for you.
BUT, if you want deep dedication to authenticity and relatable content your audience would see themselves in, we’re the right agency to chat with!
As Shutterstock’s former creative content manager said, “Tammy is culturally connected to the global world and understands the unique diversity of people that is so important to good storytelling.” That is what Moss is built on.
Let’s chat about your content needs! My DMs are open or email at
.

Happy New Year, folks!!
First freelance Q of the year: I have a client who wants to upgrade old posts by interviewing people who can add more insight into already published posts and I’ll weave some of the interview quotes into the article.
How much is the typical rate for this kind job? Basically, I’ll look for the right people to interview, contact them, do the interview (which can be quick and via email, can also be via call) then weave the interview/blurbs into the article.
We’re looking at 15 articles that I’ll update. I just don’t know how much to charge…
Thanks so much!

Me: Tell me about your role as a photographer? What comes to mind when you think of “Raimundo” and “photographer”?
Raimundo Cavalhier: When I think of myself as a photographer, the first thing that comes to mind is the connection with my roots—with the strength that comes from my ancestry.
I am the son of a former cleaning lady. A woman who fought tirelessly to raise nine children and, with the little she had, built dreams. Making my dreams come true is not just about me but also about my mother’s. With each achievement I make, I am carrying on her legacy.
I don’t think I have shared this here. One of my latest for Shutterstock. Definitely love this job!!

My content studio has the bandwidth for 1-2 more clients.
If your SaaS or DTC brand is looking to expand and interested in more narrative-driven content versus the typical research and write, Moss might be able to help. We’ve produced for Shutterstock, Teachable, and few other SaaS brands, as well as DTC brands like Moment and Urth. Looking forward to chat!

If you are to ask multiple colleagues in the same department (content marketing) for referrals, do you email them as one or email separately?
#cx-retention - November 12, 2023 at 07:27 PM
Thanks so much @Alan Huynh 🙂 Yeah, it seems the health space is something I should explore. I’ve been reaching out to lifestyle and outdoor industries lately (mostly travel bags, luggages, etc) and I’ve been getting some positive feedback but closing deals has been difficult.
#cx-retention - November 12, 2023 at 07:25 PM
@Valeriya K thanks so much! You’re like, the 4th person in the women’s health industry that told me they value blogs. 🙂 I think this is a specific industry I should explore. Would love to chat with you more, is it ok to msg you?

i everyone! I’m Tammy and I run a small content agency servicing ecomm and DTC brands. This is after 7 years of writing for both DTC and SaaS brands. (Now that i’m writing it, 7yrs feels so long haha)
I’d love to ask some ecomm folks, what do you think about blog content for e-comm and DTC businesses? I’ve come across quite a lot of these brands that really want to invest in their blogs, especially now that storytelling is becoming more important than ever. But I also thought I’d ask people here. If you run an ecomm business, would you say investing in blog content and strategy is a good move?

Hi everyone! I’m Tammy, and I’m a freelance creative content writer and the funder of Moss, a content studio that offers done-for-you service for DTC brands. 🎉 After over 7 years of writing for SaaS brands like Shutterstock, Zapier, etc., and DTC brands like Moment, Urth, and Aisle, I have learned that most brands understand the importance of blog content, but don’t have the bandwidth for it. This is why I created Moss. Gotta be honest, it’s a lot harder than I thought, but I am enjoying every second of it. 🙂 Glad to be here and looking forward to chatting, and maybe even working with y’all. 🙂
