We have ~300k uniques/mo

GA4 sucks and jumped the shark, at least for us, completely unreliable. We've experienced the same, and its no longer a tool for us to rely on.

#limited-supply - January 29, 2025 at 04:52 PM

Anyone else not seeing the usual end-of-january bump? the past couple of weeks we've always seen a trend upwards, for the past 3-4 years, not so much this year - will be the first month of flatlining YoY

#paid-media - January 29, 2025 at 04:51 PM

Using Prescient AI, just signed up with them, digging their software, Northbeam has been around for a while - and it feels dated compared to Prescient IMO

Great perspectives, i know how i can apply a couple of those to ours, thanks for the input

Dropshipping with unlimited competition in the health/supplement space is insanity, not saying your insane, but its top5 competitive categories for attention.

You have to do something really unique to stand out, and build brand.

That means creating killer reels, TikTok’s, and YouTube shorts for the free eyeballs and to start building a following. The paid side seems futile, since so many people that do hit the site, will want to research the brand and claims, but not much to back it up since it’s a new brand.

#paid-media - July 30, 2024 at 12:29 AM

Wouldn’t this be an indicator of where the ad is being shown, and thus a specific device/audience? That’s the real question, not the format itself

#limited-supply - July 30, 2024 at 12:28 AM

It really seemed like Moiz was more interested in meta topics, like the Ecom/DTC industry at large, and bigger trends, bigger brands. While Ali was more focused on the operator / small biz side of things. I’m stoked to hear full Ali episodes.

#cx-retention - July 30, 2024 at 12:25 AM

Lots of our customers are verbally telling us they’re waiting for a sale, even though we have some decent offers on the site currently, a sale most likely wont be better than what’s currently available.

People generally waiting for the Labor Day sale period, which was good for us last year, but it set us up for a very hard September/october, as that traffic is now waiting on BFCM.

Any unique ideas floating around retention for retailers? Since our customers are shopping us against many other competitors.

#general-chat - July 30, 2024 at 12:23 AM

Question on Extended Warranty offerings, and cutting out the middlemen.

We’re currently using Cover Genius (XCover, used to be Clyde), they’re similar to Extend. Basic premise is offering extended warranty coverage for items.

Who has done their own extended warranty plan for retailing other brand’s products? We generally don’t have an issue with warranties, so anything we get with current premiums on the site is all gravy. I’m wondering if we should just cut out the warranty service people, offer up the extended warranty ourselves, and call it a day?

Wondering about what possible legal stuff we may need to look out for, if we have to do something officially there to cover our butts. So far it’s mixed messaging through google research.

Sharing some more about Retention.com use here, we've had them active since January, these screenshots are from Q2

$2500/mo, we're a retailer with about 9% net, klaviyo bill about $6k/mo, email agency $5k/mo, so our email program as a whole is fairly profitable

Reclaim is conversion funnel, grow is welcome-series / segment flows related revenue.

#cx-retention - July 06, 2024 at 01:43 PM

@Ollie Aplin thank you! i was thinking the same thing and was wondering if i was missing something.

This is just another example of tech that comes out 3-5 years later has all the same features as incumbents, but less expensive, and more value. Getting a richpanel demo on Monday

#wins-and-humblebrags - July 05, 2024 at 02:23 PM

congrats!

as someone that's found themselves way ahead of their skis in the past couple of years on topline revenue, make sure those books are clean and accurate 😃

#tech-talk - July 05, 2024 at 02:16 PM

i recall Rebuyengine.com being mentioned, and another that started with R i think...

#everything-marketing - July 05, 2024 at 02:09 PM

I would definitely not depend on any marketplace like AMazon, fees are constantly going up there, and you dont own your customer. And if you have a nifty product, it'll get copied sooner or later.

I'd go to google, research competitor products, and find out all the questions they're asking about your category. Then answer them with a video and blog post each.

#everything-marketing - July 05, 2024 at 02:08 PM

i dont remember where i heard it, but it was something about ads get you a new audience, organic keeps them there to convert at some point.

We've had a strong organic content game for many years now, and i've watched many competitors that only survived on ads die by the wayside these past couple of years.

Survivor bias, but organic educationcal content is what will stand your brand out from the rest

#cx-retention - July 05, 2024 at 02:01 PM

we're a low 8 figure ecom brand, we get about 90 phone calls a day, and if we dont pickup, the older customers get pissed. our products apply to a large age demo, and the boomers still want to talk on the phone to someone before spending $400.

#cx-retention - July 05, 2024 at 01:58 PM

Per above, REamaze isn't bad, but they're behind on AI/automated responses. I almost switched to Zowie, seems they're more on top of their automated response game.

#cx-retention - July 05, 2024 at 01:57 PM

i opened LS this morning to come look for this same question, i keep hearing about gorgias' pricing, but we need a better solution than our reamaze + edesk combo

#wins-and-humblebrags - November 28, 2023 at 07:28 PM

only a humblebrag because $$ is contained in the title, but being as transparent about tactics and strategy here for our company

#bfcm - October 26, 2023 at 01:16 PM

OP is saying to create new bundle products specifically for bfcm/holiday, and then remarket those bundles to all the site visitors from sept-bfcm. No discount required if the offer is good enough.

Discount hunters are the lowest rung of customer in terms of quality (brand loyalty, return risk, etc)

#everything-marketing - October 26, 2023 at 12:54 PM

Absolutely not

#general-chat - October 18, 2023 at 05:31 PM

@Andrew Anabi can you send me your Shopify contact on this? Our rep here in the US isn’t up to speed

#tech-talk - October 18, 2023 at 05:01 PM

Headless language came along before Shopify 2.0 meta fields and meta objects, which from my novice POV, is almost the same thing. Headless is managing data in their own silos, which a data system or web system can pull from to present information. Shopify meta fields does this, and Shopify meta objects are containers that hold meta fields and present in specific ways.

Metaobject that houses product description, image, and manufacturer can be input to a block on a PDP, and then will present those meta fields in specific formats for desktop/mobile, anywhere the metaobject-meta field is present (blog posts, PDP, landing page).

Seems like Shopify metafields is Shopify’s own way of doing headless, or at least that’s how we’re treating it with our catalog of 100,000 skus

#limited-supply - October 18, 2023 at 04:38 PM

Depends if you’re a retailer, or a manufacturer, or a brand or…? Gross product margins play a huge part. If you’re a retailer with 30-40% gross product margin, you need to land at 5-10% ACOS/CAC to remain profitable. If you have 100% GPM as a manufacturer then you can stomach 50% CPA to acquire wholesale customers. Etc etc

#general-chat - October 18, 2023 at 04:30 PM

Like Ali has mentioned a couple times, get a highly rated Shopify theme that should convert 2%+ out of the gate, and dont worry about CRO so early in starting a brand

#general-chat - October 18, 2023 at 04:27 PM

Our store’s AOV is $600, so every order above $500 we ask for a google review / trust pilot review in exchange for a branded hat. This has racked up 300+ reviews on both google and trust pilot the past couple of years. We do 3500+ orders a month for reference

#general-chat - October 18, 2023 at 04:23 PM

October looking bad for us too, unusually low on an otherwise strong year

#tech-talk - September 26, 2023 at 07:58 PM

@Varun Bhanot looks like they just made an update today / sent an email on this, i've been digging in quite a bit here, wanting to switch from everything i've learned. Seems easy per many instructions, as long as you dont have many/any custom checkout functionality to migrate over.

Making sure that current scripts are migrated as well, plenty of QA to do before sending live. My team is saying probably a 'No' this close to bfcm, but i'm on the side of it cant be that complicated if you have no customizations.

Does anyone have a case study on multi page vs one-page?

#everything-marketing - September 20, 2023 at 04:02 PM

Try tiered discounts for win backs, usually a small $10 or something isn't enticing enough

#everything-marketing - September 20, 2023 at 03:53 PM

Haven't seen it mentioned, but blended roas is our main kpi. We're currently using segment stream to measure kpis, moved off of triplewhale a fee months ago.

Our average conversion window is 3.5days from click on Google Shopping, that's where the business was started and built.

We're moving more up funnel through FB ads and Google search, and with attribution & tracking in this environment, no one platform can be believed.

We use blended roas, currently at 16, to look back at how our marketing dollars are working. 1/3rd of our traffic (250k uniques) are organic, rest paid.

#everything-marketing - September 20, 2023 at 03:48 PM

Our aov is $550, we have live chat, haven't always had it though. Lots of amazing options now to fuel it with AI and FAQ content.

Biggest point of contention is that if you offer live chat, then make sure its manned for rapid response, otherwise it's a turnoff if the customer is left hanging

Seems obvious, but sometimes businesses tack it on for more sales, but it's piled onto a tapped-out cs team

#general-chat - September 19, 2023 at 02:20 AM

Whats the offer? Giving away full CAC?

#general-chat - September 19, 2023 at 12:16 AM

Unbound has been mentioned a few times around here

#tech-talk - September 05, 2023 at 08:36 PM

Couldn't find much historical conversation here (or LS in general) around chatbots / AI chat bots / customer service for ecommerce sites, so hopefully this can jump start something.

We're a leader in our niche, with unique content on our site. Our average response time on live chat is currently 5hrs, and we get 4000-5000 chats a month. We're looking for a live chat module that has an AI powered bot to answer the repetitive stuff, but also drive customer recommendations and conversations based on our industry position and experience.

We currently use ReAmaze live chat, and they have some ai function to help with responses, but they're still using the traditional cumbersome decision tree to build that experience, very time consuming and error prone.

Right now we're looking at these specific solutions, obviously there's tons out there, looking for feedback on wins/loses with any program really. I'm particularly interested on the lift required to get the software trained on our content to drive recommendations.

#general-chat - September 05, 2023 at 08:29 PM

think about where the puck will be; in the past year we've seen google giving greater signal to authoritative figures and content. So you've seen SEO hacks start to fake this authority through copywriting tricks. So Adam above is spot on with backlinks being a bigger indicator in the future (it is now).

Right now gpts are spitting out generic content unless you have it trained on your niche expertise, voice, tone, etc.

#tech-talk - September 05, 2023 at 08:26 PM

I'm looking for an AIchat bot to help resolve easy customer service issues, but also pull in our content to inform recommendations or move people along the UX.

#tech-talk - September 05, 2023 at 08:26 PM

digging into this right now myself and happened upon this thread. Here are some other chatbot options i've dug up in my research

our account manager also said that we need to enable checkout extensibility and then through there we can create the one page checkout. Would love for it to be auto-activated without having to touch anything on the dev side

#general-chat - August 22, 2023 at 04:07 AM

i googled this same topic and found someone who ran tests of Add to Cart, Buy Now, and Order Now

#general-chat - July 25, 2023 at 04:58 PM

Pageviews does not equal brand impressions, let alone quality brand impressions. Sounds like it would be way cheaper just sending your product to 10 mom's on tiktok to see traction or traffic, start grassroots

#general-chat - July 25, 2023 at 04:51 PM

we were just recommended two different software solutions to this for shopify, rokt, and rebuy, hope that helps

#general-chat - July 25, 2023 at 04:50 PM

we were due for a theme update at shocksurplus.com, and were already doing 8-figures, so the economics on fees helped a bit. But more-so looking forward to checkout customization and all the powerful features in the 2.0 architecture was a no brainer for us as we see the company approaching 9-figures in 3-4 years. Metafields, metaobjects, headless architecture, more customization were all things we know we needed going forward

#general-chat - July 25, 2023 at 04:47 PM

we've pumped the brakes on ads and growth this year, to work on doubling our profits instead. we're still growing topline though about 15% yoy, which signals a couple things for us. Profits are up 50% yoy though, so we're using this year as time to let the dust settle from the past couple of years of insane growth to re-establish a baseline for a healthy company

How i've done it in the automotive space

do you have tons of competition and need to start taking market share? price competitively, but dont be a bottom feeder

is quality of the product top notch, or more budget oriented? you cant price against the luxury version with an imported budget version, no matter how good the site looks - the customers will figure it out and feedback will crush you

do you have the best product in the market and just need people to see you? start making video ads for brand awareness / engagement on fb/ig, monitor comments, and start driving traffic
