Anyone in Miami April 29 to May 6? I’m flying in from Singapore and would love to grab coffee with other founders / operators

#logistics-operations - April 11, 2025 at 03:15 AM

Hey everyone, we are looking for a New Mexico 3PL - any recommendations?

Context:
• We’re moving out from our current Mexico 3PL and need to move inventory to a New Mexico 3PL
• We will only ship wholesale orders from the New Mexico 3PL (no DTC orders) so this new 3PL will need to be able to store hundreds and thousands of ctns as is (will not open or unpack them), and then every month or so, we will take a few ctns and ship to the U.S.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you all so much for your responses, this is incredibly helpful!

I posted this earlier but wanted to post to a wider channel: has anyone figured out how to pay for inventory using their credit card (so a service makes the payment to your factory and then the service charges your credit card after)? If so, which service do you use for this?

Something like https://www.plastiq.com/brex/ but using your own credit card instead of Brex’s

Thanks @Matt Hertz - ThirdPerson.co ! I’ll check it out

#logistics-operations - May 19, 2024 at 08:54 PM

And I would also love to know which 3PLs others would recommend, specifically for apparel

#logistics-operations - May 19, 2024 at 08:53 PM

@Zoe Jirgens - I’m going through one right now - deceptive pricing, tons of hidden fees that make the partnership completely unprofitable

I would love to see your case study!

#logistics-operations - April 06, 2024 at 09:33 AM

@Chad Michael Carleton - thank you for your input! This is really helpful.

I have no issue paying for the surcharges if they are truly pass through, but there is definitely a substantial margin SM baked into the fees. I was charged more than $9 in additional fees for 1 shipment that is under 2lbs (apparel, so poly bag instead of box)

We have a very standard 3-5 day shipping speed - the shipping label costs that SM provides are on par with what we can get normally, but the additional fees are where they become incredibly uncompetitive.

Thanks for letting me know that USPS and DHL don’t charge the additional fees - I’ll see if SM can use USPS and DHL in cases where there are the addn fees

I asked to bring my own labels/rates to SM but they said they would charge an additional $5 surcharge for this….

I just feel like it has been a complete bait and switch- they shared very competitive rates for pick and pack, shipping, etc and conveniently left out the additional fees that make their rates uncompetitive.

Rather than get into a long, drawn out thing with them, I’d rather just bring my own rates (without getting charged a bogus $5 surcharge) and ride out my year-long contract - I’m thinking that having them only use USPS and DHL for some locations would work, but would love everyone’s thoughts on if there are other options

#logistics-operations - April 05, 2024 at 02:40 PM

Anyone have experience with Shipmonk and their shipping surcharges (Residential Surcharge, Delivery Area Surcharge, Fuel Surcharge)? More specifically, what are my options here to not pay for these surcharges?

For context, I was speaking to SM since mid last year and was pleasantly surprised by how low their shipping costs were. This, among other things, convinced me to start working with them. I asked for all of the fees so I could assess them vs other 3PLs and I get the sense that they conveniently left out / quickly glazed over these surcharges.

Does anyone have experience bringing their own rate card or getting these fees completely removed?

Thanks @Steve Bazant

Also, has anyone figured out how to pay for inventory using their credit card (so a service makes the payment to your factory and then the service charges your credit card after)? If so, which service do you use for this?

#finance - March 25, 2024 at 02:11 AM

Hi everyone - just wondering what stack everyone uses to extend their payment terms - for instance, I was considering Parker to get 90 day payment terms but is it possible to stack more solutions to extend this to be 4-6 months?

#everything-marketing - March 16, 2024 at 03:18 PM

Hey #everything-marketing - any recommendations on what software to use for influencer white labeling?

#everything-marketing - March 16, 2024 at 03:17 PM

Judge.me - incredibly cheap at $15 - price doesn’t scale up as your business scales, highly customizable

#tech-talk - November 22, 2023 at 05:03 PM

@Paul Leeds - I share you concern and have thought about that too - I planned on still having my team use our macros first but then using AI to help rewrite some of the parts they need to tailor. I don’t want AI taking over the entire response since I agree that it is nowhere near perfect or knowledgable enough about our products, but I think AI can write a great first draft and then our team shifts their roles from fulll time writers to reviewers (which takes much less time)

#tech-talk - November 22, 2023 at 05:00 PM

Thanks @Lenny Huynh !!

#tech-talk - November 22, 2023 at 04:57 PM

Omnisend is not your answer - We’re on omnisend and they don’t have multi-site management so we’re duplicating work too

#tech-talk - November 22, 2023 at 04:55 PM

I use Wise - highly recommend

#tech-talk - November 22, 2023 at 04:53 PM

I use Navidium and it is great - you keep all of the revenue. Route is terrible and a complete rip off (I agree with Nick and Moiz), and the fact that they tried to sue Navidium to shut them down as well as go after customers who left them tot Navidium is predatory and not a business practice I want to support

#jobs-and-talent - November 22, 2023 at 04:40 PM

Rather than hiring 1 seasoned person for this, have you considered breaking this role down into smaller workstreams and hiring multiple offshore talent to run very specific channels (e.g., Amazon) and then using software for other workstreams ?

#tech-talk - November 08, 2023 at 02:42 PM

Can anyone recommend an AI tool that plug into Gorgias/customer service ticketing system and automatically drafts the response for the customer service agent?

#tech-talk - November 08, 2023 at 02:40 PM

We’re using Nostra right now - I agree that they are really expensive (and I hear you @Natalie Bowman haha) but I have to say that our site speed really did increase to over 70 instantly.

We’ve seen a bit of a conversion rate increase, but this also came at a time where we restocked a bunch of products, and it is also Q4 right now.

They are very expensive for their service so I’ve been trying to figur out a way to replicate what they do for much cheaper - not sure how their CDN is better than Shopify’s

#tech-talk - November 08, 2023 at 02:30 PM

I switched to Omnisend and it’s been really good for email and SMS. Klayvio’s prices are nuts

#tech-talk - November 08, 2023 at 02:29 PM

Hey team, does anyone have any experience with https://www.opensend.com/ ? Sounds like interesting tech, but sounds a bit too good to be true? Has anyone worked with Opensend or a competitor?

#tech-talk - November 08, 2023 at 02:28 PM

You built the huron bundle page?

#tech-talk - November 08, 2023 at 02:28 PM

I’d be interested if you made this app available!

If anyone is in Singapore, let me know!

#investment-talk - June 20, 2023 at 06:13 AM

@Brett Weisberg this is a great resource, thanks so much!

#investment-talk - June 19, 2023 at 01:42 AM

Thanks @Joel Jackson ! This is really helpful!

#investment-talk - June 15, 2023 at 05:21 AM

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. I’ve heard from someone in PE (so not sure how this translates to VC valuations) that they will take your last months revenue, multiple by 12 to get annual, then apply a 4x rev multiple for the valuation.

#investment-talk - June 15, 2023 at 12:44 AM

Yup, I checked public but just wondering if private (and specifically early stage) is any different

#investment-talk - June 12, 2023 at 10:58 AM

Does anyone have any references/proxies/data for how to value a DTC apparel brand in this environment? I have plenty of data for comparable DTC brands from 2021 and before, but nothing past 2022

#investment-talk - June 12, 2023 at 09:35 AM

If you don’t mind me asking, how are you calculating your valuation in this environment? I have plenty of data for comparable DTC brands from 2021 and before, but nothing past 2022

#investment-talk - June 12, 2023 at 09:33 AM

Amazing growth!

#tech-talk - June 03, 2023 at 03:41 PM

@Maxim Drkoš thanks - I’ll test this out, but not sure if the UK customers will only be able to see the UK inventory

#tech-talk - May 20, 2023 at 04:41 PM

Does anyone have a recommendation for how to solve this: we are setting up 3PLs in the UK and Australia, and run both countries out of 1 Shopify store (International) - is there a way to only let UK customers buy the inventory that’s in the UK warehouse and AU customers only buy AU warehouse inventory?

So for instance, let’s say SKU1 has 100 units in the UK warehouse and 50 units in the AU warehouse - Shopify should show a total inventory count of 150 to my team on the backend but UK customers should only be able to buy the 100 units

#tech-talk - April 20, 2023 at 08:32 AM

@Mauro Auzinger I asked about inventory forecasting software in another thread (slightly different than your inventory management request) and @Aaron Alpeter listed several solutions he’s tried. Maybe one of those has the features you need?

#investment-talk - April 17, 2023 at 02:59 PM

This is a really interesting model - thanks for sharing this.

Is there a reason why mentioned CPG for this? Seems like it can be used for any consumer brand

#tech-talk - April 15, 2023 at 04:05 PM

Bundles Bear is a good one

#investment-talk - April 15, 2023 at 03:59 PM

Hey @Moiz Ali and @Nik Sharma - would love your opinion on how the environment is for early stage DTC fund raising right now. Are investors/VCs still actively investing in early stage DTC, or have things slowed down a lot?
• The media makes it seem like the VC narrative has changed from growth at all costs to profitability, but is that expected at early stage (sub $10m revenue businesses)?
• What are the typical valuation multiples you’re seeing now on revenue and/or EBITDA?
• Is it a bad time to be fund raising right now?
• Any advice for fund raising in the coming months?

#tech-talk - April 09, 2023 at 02:45 AM

Anyone have any recommendations for a customer self-service app to allow customers to change address and process returns/exchanges without needed to contact CS? I’ve tried happy returns but they don’t allow much customization for return and exchange policies.

#perks - April 07, 2023 at 06:48 AM

Whoops - just added the store and URL!

#perks - April 06, 2023 at 08:14 PM

We don’t do seasonal sales at All Citizens (because our underwear is already half the price of comparable premium brands) but happy to give all of you founders 10% off so that your balls can be a lot more comfortable: LimitedSupply10

Allcitizens.com

#tech-talk - April 06, 2023 at 08:05 PM

Use zoho + Spark. Spark is like Superhuman but WAY cheaper and a bit fewer features, but same focus in efficiency and productivity

#tech-talk - April 06, 2023 at 07:54 PM

@Aaron Alpeter which one did you end up going with?

#tech-talk - April 06, 2023 at 07:50 PM

Yotpo is a good product but they charge way too much for their value - that’s the problem

#tech-talk - April 06, 2023 at 03:32 PM

Thanks @Moiz Ali ! Will DM

#tech-talk - April 06, 2023 at 03:30 PM

@Rohan Seth do you like COGSY?

#tech-talk - April 06, 2023 at 03:30 PM

Thanks for the rec@Rohan Seth and @Sara Feldstein - I’ll check them out - I’ve seen both but haven’t tried them thoroughly
