One 3PL for US and international fulfillment or multiple? Does it really matter?

It really depends on your business. Are you B2C and B2B, or just B2C? Depends on volume - if you have a lot of volume you likely can pay for an ERP/OMS to manage multiple partners without having to worry so much about what systems you are integrating with

Also, depends on the value of your products - if they are cheap, they are easier to ship into other countries that have a low de minimis (consumer import limit before duties & taxes are applied)

Ryan is spot on as usual.
You should also consider the working capital considerations and order routing capabilities

I’m a fan of one for simplicity sake.
If duties aren’t substantial for your product, it’s even more compelling.
The potential concern is long transit times hurting conversion. If most volume is to Canada, Canadians are used to it.

@Chad Michael Carleton - yes we are used to it! I ordered some Loop earplugs on Jan 19, no tracking up with APC Postal Logistics other than it was dispatched from Bell, California Jan 25th (6 days to pick an order) and to expect 1-2 weeks transit time with no tracking updates until it reaches Canada. Thanks APC lol

@Nate D there is a 3PL in Windsor, Ontario Canada that crosses the border daily and ships US orders from its Michigan location and ships Canadian orders from the Windsor, Ontario warehouse. The bonus is you can take advantage of the shipping rates US to US and CA to CA as the labels are created to ship within the same country AND your inventory is in one place. They are a bonded facility which is also beneficial as you do not have to pay import taxes upfront. We plan to move to this facility in June. It is called Windsor Fulfillment Centre. Definitely check it out.
