Is it possible (and compliant) for us to advertise Amazon our products on Google ads, using amazon attribution links as the destination URL?

Nick Tollison April 22, 2025 at 12:09 AM

Yes I’ve done this many times. It would be worth testing straight to PDP vs a landing page. Some keywords have high purchase intent and you don’t need a lander but that would be a case by case situation to know.

Just make sure name your attribution campaign in detail. It can get pretty messy if you are running a lot of these and testing different paths to purchase.

Also, a tip you should do to all attribution campaigns is include your entire catalog so you can see what products they also visit and potentially buy

Andrew Bonasso April 22, 2025 at 12:47 AM

yes! Amazon loves and encourages that. make sure you have the brand referral bonus turned on so you get 10% back on every attributed sale.

Fred McKinnon April 22, 2025 at 11:07 AM

100% - yes, and encouraged

I would recommend using Amazon attribution links

Thanks for sharing your thoughts @Nick Tollison @Andrew Bonasso @Fred McKinnon @Menachem Ani

@Nick Tollison I love your tip about theming keywords and sending some to a lander, and some to PDP.
I never considered that before, but it makes a lot of sense and we're going to take your advice. Great tip on including the entire catalog too.

@Chris - if this is for launch, check out this strategy I lay out here:

@Fred McKinnon ohhh I just realized I've been watching your videos lately...and they're really valuable!
My biz partner linked me to your PDP teardown video a couple of weeks ago and it was so insightful.

Keep up the great work with your YT channel, I've only just started going deep with Amazon these past few weeks and your channel is the best I've come across.
I've just joined the ECF forum a few weeks ago, and I think you're in there too.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom @Fred McKinnon, we'd love to explore your services when the time is right.

Fred McKinnon April 24, 2025 at 12:47 AM

Wow small world! And congrats on ECF. You gotta make it to ECF Live in Bozeman this Fall! Appreciate you watching and vids too thank you!!

Chris April 24, 2025 at 03:32 AM

@Fred McKinnon I'd love to eventually make it to one of the live meetups. It's a long way from Australia where I live, but no doubt these events would be next level.
Maybe the one after Bozeman!

Absolutely and most sellers don't do this (but they should!!), I've worked with many DTC brands who want to send Google/Social traffic to the website, which I understand...BUT, Amazon will always have a much better conversion, typically enough to cover the extra seller fees + you get referrel fees so if they end up buying something else you still win! Not only will it get you sales from the ad traffic but it will boost your organic ranking

Prateek Jain May 15, 2025 at 03:12 PM

@Aaron Yelton - just catching up on this thread. We tried sending a lot of traffic from meta (and are still doing). But it seems like meta is never able to optimize delivery as it doesnt get any signal back - so it optimizes for link clicks and gets the cheapest traffic.
Secondly we also feel Amazon is not fully attributing the conversions as sometimes we see a lift but Amazon doesn't show the same sales.
What's the best way to understand if its working, other than have a lander and optimize for lead gen.

Fred McKinnon May 15, 2025 at 05:24 PM

@Aaron Yelton and @Prateek Jain great convo.
Re: attribution, @Prateek Jain have you used PixelMe from Carbon6? This is exactly what it's designed for. It integrates directly into your Amazon Attribution, and gives it the ability to get the 'signal back' as you put it from Amazon. IMO, trying to drive external traffic from Meta or Google directly to Amazon WITHOUT using something like PixelMe is like burning money - no way to track the impact.

Prateek Jain May 16, 2025 at 04:28 AM

@Fred McKinnon Thanks for that reco! Have set up a call to explore.

Chris May 20, 2025 at 12:03 AM

@Fred McKinnon oooh, so PixelMe can tell the Meta pixel and Google pixel that an Amazon sale occurred?
I tried searching around but can't get a straight answer on this.
Some articles and videos say that PixelMe can track the Amazon sales from Meta/Google, but they don't say that it can ping back at the Meta/Google pixels.

Fred McKinnon May 20, 2025 at 11:56 AM

@Chris yes. I don't understand the science of it, but the way they shorten the link, they have a retargeting pixel firing ... that's the whole point of PixelMe. If you just use attribution links alone, you can see sales attributed from the link, but it doesn't feed back into your campaign sources. W/ PixelMe, the conversions that happen on Amazon are documented (via attribution) and reported back, so whether you are driving outside traffic to Amazon via Meta or Google, it's able to get the conversion data reported BACK. This is critical, as it helps Google or Meta refine the audiences of where it's showing your ad. We work at lot w/ Carbon6 so I'd be happy to make an intro and get you setup on a demo w/ them if you'd like - just PM me.

Chris May 21, 2025 at 01:17 AM

Thanks for the insights @Fred McKinnon
We're super busy at the moment but late next month could be a good time so I'll reach out to you for an intro then.
Thanks Fred!
