Has anyone gone all in on AI to create product images (particularly graphically detailed, text-intensive product packaging) for a website or Amazon? It seems more do-able than ever with Nano-Banana and wondering how it worked out for others.

Did you start out with some good product photography on white at different angles? Any reco's on where to get that done cost-effectively (and with people knowledgeable about what we would need)?

I'm working on new logo, packaging, and then Shopify site for a client with a tight budget and would love to not spend a lot on the new photography but still get good results, so any tips would be much appreciated!

I don’t really get the hype around AI image generation. Every now and then it produces something decent, but the moment you ask for a change it distorts the image, throws in random irrelevant details, or adds text that’s usually misspelled and meaningless. I’ve tested several platforms and the results have been consistently disappointing.

Have you checked out Soona for cost effective product photography. Or just take them on a smart phone.

Echoing what Scott said. You’ll spend more hours trying to get it to be perfect and if you don’t know the AI langugae you’ll wish you had paid someone. If you see an AI looking image online that looks PERFECT, I can 100% guarantee you it’s a professional render that costs $$$$.

Soona can get you decent ecom photos but will nickle and dime you for everything after that and end up being just as much as a quality freelancer or agency.

Check out my work at www.huedhuedhued.com if you need photo help.

<@U099F084LRY> I've generally had good results with AI image generation both with GPT 5 and Nano-Banana, though there are clearly things they are better at and worse at. I haven't tried placing this particular product in lifestyle shots yet, so not sure how well they'll capture the details. I'm happy to learn more about your offering if you are cost competitive on the whole with services like Soona. Feel free to direct message me if you think you can meet the needs of a very small company. Thanks!

Flux context is good for placing.

@Peter Quadrel Thanks, I can't wait to try your app. We are finalizing the package design now so it will be several weeks before I have boxes to photograph (though I may try to use product renderings before then). I went through the process as far as I could without the new images and was impressed with the output from just providing the website and brand strategy docs. I am worried, though, that this package will be tough because it does have a lot of fine text on it. But hopefully the models will improve enough by then to be able to handle it.

That's great! Yes small text is really tough, I haven't seen a model that can handle it.
