NEW Flexible Ad Questions!!
- How do you find the winning combo so you can see what’s working so you can do more of it?
- How do you get the post-id of the winning ad so you can drop into another campaign? Another one for you @Charles Tichenor IV??!!

As of right now, you dont 😕

You’re joking!?

But you could with a DCO ad?

I know. Its a widely reported issue rn.

You can still get all post ids from the page posts tab in ads manager.

Maybe - but you cant see how much spend each post id is getting with flexible ads

Ok so we’ll just have to sit tight and wait for Meta to update this

You can see the breakdown on some accounts and not on others. Some accounts are only showing breakdown by main copy and headline and others are also showing creative breakdown including spend.
It’s still rolling out so maybe will take time for all features on all accounts.
You can always get the post id, every ad is a post Id and the entire platform is designed around this concept.

I can see the breakdown but not for creative.
Also when I go to ad posts, there are zero flexible ad posts showing. So, for me, I can’t get a post id of an ad from a flexible ad 😞

We've never been able to see the spend by Post ID... but getting the Post ID for the variation still works the same as it always has
making a video on this cuz it seems like a wide spread issue of Agecies and "experts" just sharing what ive been teaching them for years
or refusing to listen when I do
just did a screengrab of the process, so should be out soon

You could figure out which post id got most spend though by looking at breakdowns by each element.

oh no

thats not what you saw at all

each element is MULTIPLE ADS
in a 32... each Headline is 6 ads
you have NO IDEA if that spend is even or 99% going to one ad
and looking at the elements that spent the most was RARELY the highest spending Post ID

VERY COMMON misinformation that was spread for years unfortunately

Yeah - I think he’s referring to the breakdown by creative in ads manager!

@Charles Tichenor IV So you’re saying if I look at top spending creative, headline, primary text, and then find the post id that has all of those, its still not necessarily the top spending post id?

100%
if you notice
the spends are never the same
Lets do the simple math on a 32 Ad (which is generally MUCH simpler than most who misuse DCT and Flexible Ads)
1 Creative could be 4 ads
1 headline could be 6 ads
1 primary text could be 6 ads
Lets say the ad in total spent $1,000
The Top Spending Creative spent 800
The Top spending Headline spent 400
The Top spending Text spent 550
Its impossible for the top spending Creative to have spent all 800 on a single ad
so what if its a 25% 4 way split
thats $200 on each variation
But it could also be $398 on one variation
and $402 and the other 3
Now where this is REALLY GUNNA TWIST YOUR NOODLE
If the 3 that split the $402 were 50% better than the 1 that spent $398
you'd never know
and the Combination of Top Spending of each Element may have only spent $1
Last part, and this is where it all falls apart even more
Say you take the Top Spending of each
you're just making a brand new ad all over again
which means the DCT or Flexible Ad was just a test
To see which collection of elements earned a lot of spend
and then you start the ACTUAL TEST by recreating an ad that may have actually only spent $1
and now you're on step 1 of your creative test
and you think you just finished

Ha! Glad I asked the question and it’s not just me who’s head hurts 🤯

Heads up.
I just finished the screen share recording and the video work now we just have to finalize the editing and get a thumbnail. This will be on YouTube with within the next 48 hours.
