Does anyone know how to set up inventory in Shopify for a product that has different quantities as variants, such that available inventory pulls from a shared total? Is an app needed to do this?

Example:
If I sell candy in a 10-piece box and a 20-piece box, and have 100 pieces on hand, I can sell EITHER 10 10-piece boxes OR 5 20-piece boxes, but NOT both

We tried to do this natively and we were told by Shopify it was not possible. It sounds like you need a 3rd party app. Kinda crazy eh

This is a common problem with present bundles on Shopify. I don't know a lot of apps that have addressed this issue but we have solved this exact issue.

We break down preset bundles to individual SKUs so your inventory is clean. Let me know if you want me to show you this.

Shopifys new bundle app allows for this 🙂

but comes with a few limitations, you can’t use certain features in combination.
