I'm making the switch to Sendlane from Klaviyo and onboarding starts next week. What questions should I be asking during migration? What features should I leverage in Sendlane that are currently not in Klaviyo? Overall, here are 3 points I want to focus on with the move.
• Audit of all flows, segments, & past campaign performance.
• Data migration, domain configuration, & security.
• Communication with employees, customers, & partners.
What strategy should I be focused on that I didn't list?
This is a perfect time to do an audit of your existing flows. I'd recommend also doing a list clean since you're going to be looking at all your contacts/lists already (remove emails that are bouncing, unengaged for x amount of time, etc.)
If you're using them for both email & SMS, definitely ask about creating flows that leverage email as follow up to engaged SMS folks (example: you send an SMS, it gets a click but no purchase, follow up with email about the specific click). Jimmy Kim talks about this often on twitter.
There's other things too im sure but that's what i'd suggest
Thanks @Jared Holstad!
why are you switching over @Chris Lang We are thinking of going the other way around
@Wouter Akika are you on Sendlane now?
Hi - I'm planning on making the same switch (Klaviyo -> sendlane) soon.
The one caution I've heard is that not all your customer's history (actions) that Klaviyo has recorded will come with them in the migration. I haven't done the switch yet, so can't confirm, but be sure that's ok / ask them about it if it would be an issue for you.
Like you, when we go, we'll audit all flows.
And, we've regularly been cleaning our list to ensure we're not bringing over deadwood.
@Hilary if you DM I can definitely help answer any questions or concerns you may have 🙌
@Chris Lang No we are using klaviyo & exploring sendlane
@Wouter Akika here a few reasons:
• Consolidating 3 apps (email, sms, & reviews) into 1 = More Savings
• Higher deliverability (with dedicated servers) = More $
• Better customer service = More value
• Leading insights from Sendlane @Jimmy Kim = More strategy
Overall, email & sms are such revenue drivers for us - it's an area I want to put more of my focus with automations, flows, retention and increasing the LTV of our customers.
@Hilary that's a great point about customer actions - I'll be sure to address that issue and see what the resolution is.
I've heard great things about sendlane, but any idea why they have so few reviews? Are they primarily non-Shopify?
Can’t say exactly! Lots of merchants having been giving praise via social media, etc. We have quite a few Shopify but also BigCommerce and WooCommerce brands too
@Chris Lang how did the migration? I’ve got my eye on sendlane for a lot of the reasons you mentioned!
It’s going very well! We just finished uploading all contacts from VIA (SMS) & Klaviyo and I’m working on automations now - will send our fist campaigns next week!
I’ll keep you up to date on performance - however customer support has been best in class.
That's good. The migration sounds like a lot of moving parts which concerns me.
But comparing the cost of my ESP and SMS and reviews right now , it would be cheaper!
They actually handled all 100% of the migration - I'm just focused on flows at the moment.
Nice. What were you using for reviews prior? How does their review platform look? I really like Junip for ease of use for the customer. And integration into Shopify etc
I haven't set up the reviews yet - currently on Okendo - but will set up through Sendlane. We will be able to integrate the reviews into emails & sms automations! Which is going to be a big win for us!
