Does anyone know an affordable trademark lawyer in the USA?
I'm not looking to apply for the trademark just yet.
More like paying for early stage research for whether our new product name has a high chance of acquiring the trademark, should we choose to apply for it after the product gets traction.
Do you go through this process before finalising product names for new product lines?

I would assume Open Ai Deep Research (200$/month) would perfectly be able to do that kind of research. Most trademark lawyers I’ve worked with were - in hindsight - a waste of money.

You can search all trademarks through the USPTO

Thanks for the suggestion @Guido
I'll give Open AI a try.
I agree about the 'in hindsight - a waste of money'.
I was just quoted $800 for a USPTO search (which I can do myself) or $3k for more comprehensive searches beyond USPTO.
@Jesse Tilner my main sticking point is 'unregistered use' that poses a risk for acquiring a TM (which is outside of USPTO).
Even if a brand does not own a trademark, if it has been selling a product by the same name on some random website, that could cause my TM application to fail.

You would waste way too much money buying and enforcing trademarks on product names. It is worth trademarking your brand. You can just use ™️ for any product name you yourself consider proprietary. We do this with our Serenity™️ fabric and you will see lots of brands like Vuori do this with all kinds of silly words. I do have a good trademark lawyer though if you need one.
